A husky mix takes the field at the Puppy Bowl.

The 18th annual Puppy Bowl fielded more than 100 adoptable puppies — including a husky mix named Emily on Team Fluff.

“Emily,” a Great Pyrenees and Siberian Husky mix, suited up for Team Fluff in the 18th annual Puppy Bowl, courtesy of the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. She was one of more than 100 puppies from over fifty shelters across the country to take the field.

The Puppy Bowl is entertaining television, but its real job is raising awareness for pet adoption — every player is an adoptable dog looking for a home, and the broadcast is a fundraiser for the shelters that care for them.

We share it because it makes the point we make every day: the best dogs in the country are the ones waiting in rescues and shelters right now. A husky mix can go from surrendered to national television — and, more importantly, to a family.
