Adopting With Us

A thorough process, on purpose.

We make adopting as easy as we can — but our rescues go to families looking for companions, not objects. Every step below exists because we want this to be the last home your husky ever needs.

The process

  1. Apply for a husky. Choose or meet a husky, then submit the application linked on their profile. Initial review takes 5–7 business days — our team is all volunteers, so holidays can slow things down. Once reviewed, someone from our administration team contacts you to begin vetting.
  2. Home visit. Like preparing for a new baby, taking on a Siberian Husky is a life-changing experience. We visit and assess your home to help spot anything that could cause problems — for you or the husky — given the breed’s traits.
  3. Time to think. Take a few days to picture life with a husky, and make sure the whole family is part of the decision. We want everyone living harmoniously — and we want this to be the last adoption this dog ever goes through.
  4. Adoption day. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork — then your husky comes home, with everything packaged up and ready. May the new addition to your family live happily furever after.

Adoption fees are non-refundable. If your choice in husky turns out not to be the right fit, surrender the pup back to us and we’ll work on finding the right one.

Alumni

After adopting, your family joins the Louisiana Husky Rescue Alumni — a community where adopters, team members, and even former owners gather to share photos and stories of how the pups are doing. One big happy family.
